Happy Easter in Polish is Wesołych Świąt Wielkanocnych. If you plan to send a postcard to somebody in Poland this is what you should write.

What Polish people do during Easter?

Easter in Poland is celebrated for one week from Palm Sunday to Wet Monday (in Polish called śmigus dyngus orlogo - Polish folk Easter eggs - pisanki śmingus dyngus, also lany poniedziałek - Wet Monday). Śmigus dyngus is a tradition on the 2nd day of Easter (on Monday) where people run with buckets or bottles with water and pur it on one another. However very often in April during Easter it is still cold. If we are lucky it can be 15 degrees centigrade but it happens sometimes that it is only 6 or 7 degrees or even there still can be snow. Then many people get sick when they get wet while walking on the street. Sometimes crazy teenagers try to push one another to a river and it has already happened that some people have drowned because they were pushed to cold river and it was too cold to swim. So be careful if you want to play with water on Wet Monday. Also avoid walking on the street because anybody can pour water on you and you cannot complain to anybody about it. In recent years police has been trying to look at group of people with buckets and they advise them not to pout too much water on other people and to not to attack children or elderly people. If some people really exaggerate with water you can always complain to a policeman, if you find one :)

In shops there are also a lot of toys to buy for children to play with water. For smaller children there are plastic eggs where you can pour water and for older children plastic water guns.
